The Western Massachusetts Climbers’ Coalition was able to raise almost $3500 at their weekend Rendezvous.  Congratulations!

You must pre-register for this ABS youth local comp.  IFSC World Cup scoring will be used for this event with climbers in each division given 7 problems to work on.

ABS Youth Comp – Rockspot, Boston, MA
Cost: $35, extra $5 fee for non-USAC members
Climbing: 10am – 1pm

Over 70 new problems will be on the walls for this ABS youth local comp.

Infinity Series – Stone Age Rock Gym, Manchester, CT
Cost: $15
Climbing: 6pm – 8:30pm
Categories: Rec, Int, Adv for men & women based on times

This is a speed climbing comp for adults that benefits the Network Against Domestic Abuse.  All registrants receive a free T-shirt.

For the USAC youth, there are a lot of opportunities to get in one of your local comps.  Good luck to everyone!  Consider this bye week for adults who boulder.  I’ll be resting up to crush next weekend.  (Alright, who am I kidding?  I’ll be at the gym, climbing.)

Test Your Core Results 2013 – The Edge, Halfmoon, NY
This was the comp I went to and it was a lot of fun.  I got there early, watched the last hour of the youth comp and saw some strong climbing.  A bunch of the youth climbers stuck around to watch the adult comp that followed which was awesome.  Thanks for the support!  The adult comp format was definitely a challenge for the climbers.  We had 2 hours and our top 8 climbs were being counted.  There were a lot of problems to work on and it wasn’t that crowded, so getting on the problems wasn’t a issue.  That was nice, since it had been my biggest concern going into the comp.  What ended up being the biggest challenge was the pressure to just keep climbing, since it felt like 2 hours was barely any time.  I didn’t want to stop, take a break, get a snack, nothing.  That really does not make for the best performance.  I think there might have been a happy medium somewhere in there:)  From my conversations with people, it sounded like others were struggling with this as well.  Despite this, I was happy to walk away with 1st place for the women.

Also on Saturday were the WMCC Rendezvous outdoor comp and Share The Burn comp at PRG East Falls.  I’ll post these results as soon as I have them.
