Dyno Comp – MPHC Climbing Gym, New York, NY

Ground Fall #2 – Bloc Shop, Montreal, QC   Results

I had fun at B3 at Rock Spot. It was my first time at their new facility. I was very impressed. It is beautiful and well-planned. It had a lot of amenities that can make the climbing experience even better. There was a nice variety of terrain and it is huge! It had room for separate men’s and women’s finals (6 problems each), a redpoint round (50 problems), and warm-up space to all run simultaneously. And despite all that and the number of people there, it didn’t even feel that crowded and I didn’t have a problem getting onto the wall.  There was also ample space for spectators without them being on the mats and in the way of the climbers, which often happens at comps. Well done, Rock Spot!

Strap on a harness, tie in, and boulder up a long problem, clipping in all the way. No belayer? No problem! None is needed!!! Sound crazy?A little, but super fun. Come check it out, see what you think!

I signed up for the Boston Boulder Brawl quite awhile ago, long before I knew how broken down I would be by April. But the event sounds fun and innovative, so I’m going to load up the car one more time this season and make the trip out to Boston. Then it will be a bit of a competing hiatus while I recover and start a hard summer training program.
