Poll of the Week: Jan 22

Earlier this week, the ladies over at Crux Crush got people talking about resoling with this post.  An interesting topic and one that climbers have strong opinions about I’m sure.  I happen to be a fan of resoling, as minimizing waste and money leaving my wallet are always two goals high on my list.  I also love the feel of worn-in, shaped-to-my-feet climbing shoes.  One catch with resoling though….

You have to be willing to part with your climbing shoes.  And that means you either have to give up climbing for a bit, be willing to wear rentals, or have at least one back up pair that you can wear in the mean time.  So this week’s poll asks the related question:

I was at Winter Burn on Saturday and had a great time, like I do at all the Burns!  For those of you who have been following my climbing this season, I have been having issues with sleeping well before comps.  I think I may have figured out the cause and I have my fingers crossed that it will not be an issue in the future.  The complete lack of sleep before last week’s comp (TdB at Climber’s Rock) not only ruined my performance there, but also hampered my training all week.  I could feel the effects in my muscles and focus.  Very frustrating!  I did manage to get a decent amount of sleep before Winter Burn, but was still feeling well under 100%.  I made it through prelims okay and qualified for finals (yay!), but could tell I was lacking in stamina and sharpness in finals.

The comp was a lot of fun regardless and I met lots of cool people.  Congrats to those climbers who were crushing in their first comp ever!  I hope to see you at more!  There were some fun problems in a variety of styles, something I have come to expect at PRG comps.  Thanks to the setters for keeping up the good work!
