I was at the Goldfinger comp this weekend and had a fantastic time! I climbed the best that I have since I hurt my knee/calf, but still had some issues. It locked up a few times and I am still lacking on heel hooks that require any pull. This kept me from being able to complete several of the problems and as a result my score was not quite high enough to make finals. That is always a disappointment, but I rarely get the opportunity to watch finals. So I kicked back, got comfy on the couch (literally!) and watched some great climbing. The finalists really put on a show!

The next bouldering comp of the Burn Series is here! Remember, you must compete in at least two of the qualifier events (Midnight Burn, Winter, Burn, Heart Burn) and the championship event (Friction Burn) to be eligible for the Overall Burn Series Champion title in your category!

I’m going to drive over the border one more time before ABS Open Nationals and compete in the Goldfinger comp. The TdB at Vertical last year was a lot of fun and I am sure that this year will be too! I’ll be test-driving a new pair of comp shoes.  After having to wear too-big warm-up shoes at my last two comps, I’m hoping these will work out for me.
