NCBS Comp #1 – Altitude Gym, Gatineau, QC   Men’s Results   Women’s Results

I was at Dark Horse this weekend. It was nice to get to see the newest Metro Rock facility. I like the walls there and it was very open and bright. Like all Dark Horse comps, it was very crowded and it was difficult to get on the problems. There was a lot of jostling, line jumping and general confusion. I literally got shoved out of the way at one point by someone who apparently didn’t want to wait in line to climb.

But I always enjoy a trip up to Burlington, since they have great restaurants and I love to eat! We hit a couple of old faves, The Skinny Pancake (we improved upon the G.O.A.T. by adding chevre), Ben and Jerry’s and American Flatbread, and checked out some new-to-us places, Shanty on the Shore (the lobster bisque is unbelievable), Our House* (an entire restaurant built around adding yummy things to mac and cheese – which until this point I did not think was a dish that could be improved upon) and Sneakers*. And we almost could not get out of town, since we stopped at South End Kitchen and Lake Champlain Chocolate factory store as we drove out. No Champ sightings, but I remain optimistic:)
*Actually in Winooski, VT.

ABS Divisionals (5) – Central Rock Gym, Glastonbury, CT   Results

I was at Bloc Buster on Saturday at Climber’s Rock. I had a great time seeing everyone and enjoyed the routes.  Due to many factors, including my still-not-fully-healed-knee/calf-injury, I did not climb very well, but I was prepared for this. It was really nice to get out there and shake off the tinsel after a month long holiday hiatus from comps. Next up is Dark Horse at the new Metro Rock gym in Vermont. Can’t wait to check it out!
