I went to Orange Crush at The Edge this weekend. Qualifiers were great with lots of inspired problems. I was really shaky and not climbing my best, but was able to put together enough strong sends to make it into finals in third place. I thought my problem might be hunger (often the case with me), so my awesome husband ran out for Chipotle, which I devoured before finals. It definitely helped, because, although I did not climb any smarter in finals than I did in qualis, I had at least stopped shaking. This allowed me to get a flash on techy problem #1 and helped secure first place in finals! Yay! There were a range of ages and experience levels in women’s finals and I was really impressed with everyone’s climbing. Congrats ladies, you are an inspiration! Thanks to everyone at The Edge and all the volunteers for putting together a super fun event. And a special shout out to Evan and Adam on the setting!

Dark Horse 6 kicks off this weekend! This bouldering series has grown to one of the biggest in the country and this year promises to up the ante! Qualifiers will be redpoint format and finals will be onsight. $5 of every entry fee and all spectator fees go towards Urban Peaks. All competitors will receive one spectator pass. Clarification on categories: During the comp youth will compete in the “MetroRock” divisions of Youth (under 13) or Junior (13 – 15) and have the opportunity to advance to Finals round in their division. After the comp, scores will be posted based on the USAC divisions of Youth D, C, B, A & Jr (determined by birth year), since this comp is a sanctioned ABS local comp and counts towards the 2 required locals.
